Serving the community since 1970
Members of St. John's Knights of Columbus Council #2938, the confirmation class from St. John the Evangelist Parish and community members gathered at dawn for a heartfelt ceremony outside the church. Sunday's event, Love Life, Choose Life, featured the erection of a display of several hundred crosses, each symbolizing a life lost to abortion.
In conjunction with the memorial, the Knights of Columbus held their annual Baby Bottle fundraiser, an initiative to support the Bakersfield Pregnancy Center. Over the weekend, they collected more than $1,200 from parishioners and secured pledges from local businesses for additional contributions. This supported the center's life-affirming mission, providing essential resources and assistance to expectant mothers during pregnancy and in the challenging days that follow.
To conclude the event, the Knights of Columbus led the gathered community in a solemn Rosary for Life, reflecting on the sanctity of life and reaffirming their commitment to supporting mothers and their unborn children.
Grand Knight Hector Avila expressed his gratitude, saying, "The St. John's Knights of Columbus are deeply grateful for the support of our Pastor, Father Loji Pilones, and our parishioners during this Love Life, Choose Life weekend. Your financial contributions have empowered us to bring attention to the many precious lives lost to abortion and to support the life-saving work of the Bakersfield Pregnancy Center."
