Serving the community since 1970
The City of Wasco invites the community and all military families to a ribbon cutting ceremony to inaugurate and dedicate the newly renovated Veterans Memorial Park and 7th Street. The event will be a tribute to the courage, dedication and patriotism of those who have served and continue to serve our nation.
"The new Veterans Memorial Park is the renovation of the old 7th Street Park. Our vision was to honor our veterans and their families for their sacrifices," Assistant City Manager Maria Lara said in an interview. "Some of the new elements of the park include a monument with an LED board that we hope to use to promote community events and city activities. There is also a small dog park that will have a jungle gym for the animals. We hope to add benches there and want residents to enjoy it and help us maintain it."
Lara added that the project aims to make downtown Wasco more welcoming and unite the community. "We would love to see festivals and events at the new plaza."
The event will also celebrate the first phase of the downtown beautification project, which includes improvements from G Street to D Street, including alleys, parking lots and the new plaza.
The event will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m. at 749 7th Street, with refreshments and project tours following the ribbon cutting.
