Wasco Museum gives glimpses of history

During the Wasco Rose Festival, the Wasco Historical Society Museum held an open house on Saturday, giving residents a chance to take a peek back in time, with a variety of artifacts on display.

Director Marlene Swan said that they had a pretty good crowd. "We got more people in then we usually do on a Saturday," she said.

Upon visiting, there were two young residents who were watching a video about the history of Wasco, which they really enjoyed. "It was really neat seeing what it was like back then," said Araceli Cervantes.

Cervantes and Jakelyne Moreno checked out some of the other displays in addition to watching the video.

The museum has displays representing different decades, as well as different occupations. There is a terrifying dental chair and equipment that is a big draw.

Established in 1946, the museum is dedicated to preserving and displaying the history of the community and its surrounding area.

The museum contains a variety of displays of items collected over the years, including photographs, documents, artifacts and memorabilia, allowing visitors to learn about the area's history.

The museum's main exhibit focuses on the history of Wasco and its people, from its founding in 1869 to the present day. It features historic photographs, artifacts from the town's past, and documents that tell the story of Wasco's past.

The museum also houses several other exhibits, including a display about the local Native American tribe, the Yokuts, and their culture and history. There is also a special display about the early pioneers who settled in the area.
