Shafter High is holding a No Football Friday Movie Night on Friday, Sept. 6, at the Shafter High Football Stadium. The event is free to the community to attend. They will be showing the movie "Lego: Batman" on the giant scoreboard screen at the stadium.The event will start at 7 p.m. and end at 9:30.
According to Principal Russell Shipley, the Generals have a bye this week and they wanted to make the most of the opportunity. "The community is so supportive of our football team, and this is just a small token of appreciation for that support."
There will be several vendors on hand that will be selling food, treats and drinks. Among the vendors scheduled to attend are Mago's Kitchen and Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream. There also will be cotton candy,popcorn and drinks for sale.
The Shafter Generals will be back in action on Friday, Sept.13, with a game against the Dos Palos Broncos, in Dos Palos.
Speaking of football, Principal Russell Shipley would like to remind fans that the school does have a policy in place for those who want to attend Generals games.
"Shafter High encourages families as a part of the Shafter community to attend our football games with their young children," Shipley said. "To encourage a safe and fun environment, children below high school age must be accompanied by an adult."
He emphasized that to be a Shafter General, the school believes in showing Pride, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Enthusiasm – showing their PRIDE
The next home games for the Generals will be on Friday nights, Sept. 20 against the Edison Tigers (Red Ribbon Night) and Oct. 4, against the Taft Wildcats on Homecoming Night.
