Annice Novella Allen

Jan. 25, 1939 – Aug. 24, 2024

Novella Allen passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the age of 85 at Carrington in Shafter.

Novella was born on Jan. 25, 1939, in Viola, Ark., to Trudy Novella Dillinger and Charles Opal

Reynolds. Her mother would later marry Ival Hanes Henson (Jack) in 1940, and on that day he became

her daddy. She attended Wasco schools from kindergarten through high school, graduating in 1956. She

met the love of her life, James Dale Allen, and they were married May 4, 1957. They made their home in

Wasco and went on to have three children.

Novella is now at peace in heaven reunited with her mother and father, brothers- Jim and Hayden

Henson, sisters- Peggy Hosman and Deidra Robbins, son- Lynn Allen, and grandson- Austin Eves.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Nicol (Dale) and Suzy Eves (Jon); sister Gladyz Zobel;

grandchildren Jason Allen, Sarah Piekarski, Mitchell Allen, Elliott, Ethan and Madeline Nicol, Allysa Eves

and Annice Casida. She also leaves behind eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Everyone who knew Novella would agree that she had a terrific sense of humor and loved telling jokes.

She was a fun loving granny who loved playing games, watching movies and spending time with her

grandkids. When she wasn't with family, she enjoyed oil painting, crocheting, antiquing, puzzles and

gambling.

Novella was a longtime member of Grace Community Church, where she served as deaconess, Sunday

school teacher and vacation Bible school leader. She was a member of the Wasco Lady Elks and enjoyed their many activities and fundraisers. In her earlier years, she was a Blue Bird leader, a member of the Wasco High Band Boosters and a member of the PTA.

Her family will forever cherish the memories they have of the many holidays spent at her home and the

fun vacations in Cayucos.

The service for Novella will be Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m. at Grace Community Church in Wasco.
