N. Kern Christian School presents pancake breakfast

North Kern Christian School will kick off the Wasco Rose Festival with a pancake breakfast on Saturday, Sept.7, from 7 to 10 a.m. It's the perfect opportunity to enjoy a quick meal before the festivities begin.

The breakfast will include three pancakes, eggs and sausage. For dine-in, there are complimentary orange juice and coffee. There is also a take-out option. "It's easy for a grab-and-go. We encourage you to come for a bite before you go to the parade, especially if you're having a busy morning. The Rose Queen also will be making a special appearance," Valerie Aleman, a preschool director spearheading the event, said.

The breakfast costs $10, and all funds raised will go toward the school's Parent Teacher Fellowship. "The PTA is a group of teachers and parents that support our school in providing programs and activities for our students throughout the year."

Aleman shared that this is the school's first year hosting the event. "We are excited to welcome the community and to invite the community into our school to support the Rose Festival. We are hoping for a good turnout, and we hope this is something we can be a part of for years to come."

"I'm personally excited because I've never been involved in the Rose Festival. I'm from Shafter, but just hearing about the unity and bringing back the pancake breakfast is special. It's going to be a great addition for the town. We are thrilled to keep the pancake option going. We were happy to have the opportunity to host it this year."

"It's also a chance to let people know our school is here and to get our name out there. We offer quality Christian education, small classroom size settings, an Abeka curriculum, a preschool program, a home study program and an on-campus program for K through 8th-grade students."

She extends a warm invitation. "We hope to see you at the pancake breakfast for some good food and fellowship. I think it will be a fantastic way to kick off the parade and the Rose Festival festivities at Barker Park."

The pancake breakfast will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. inside the North Kern Christian School Chapel, 710 Peters St. For more information, call the school office at 661-758-6889.
