Club teams with city to spread values of good citizenship

In collaboration with the city of Wasco, the Wasco Rotary Club placed 4-Way Test signs along Highway 43 near Filburn Street. The effort symbolized the Rotary mission and was a way to remind the community to be the best citizens possible.

"Our club members came together to support and provide service to our community while embodying the Rotary 4-Way Test, which is: 1) Is it the truth? 2) Is it fair to all concerned? 3) Will it build goodwill and better friendships? and 4) Will it be beneficial to all concerned?" Rotary Club President Oscar Luna explained.

"It is important to share this four-way message because it is exemplary for everyone to understand and live by the 4-way test to be an overall good member of society."

"I want to thank the Public Works Department, Wasco City Council and City of Wasco administration for making this possible."

Luis Villa, Public Works director, said, "It was a great partnership to work with the Rotary Club, and I hope to collaborate on more projects in the future."

"Getting approval from Caltrans for the signs to be on their right of way was a lengthy process. City staff obtained the posts and set them up in the locations in preparation for today's event to minimize the time on site. Then the Rotary Club came on site and installed the signs."

Afterward, the Rotary Club sponsored a lunch for the Public Works team to thank them for their efforts. "Having a lunch after was unexpected and much appreciated."

Following the lunch, Rotary Club members expressed their enthusiasm for the project.

"It promotes goodwill and understanding. I think it lets the community know what Rotary is all about. It represents the Rotary's beliefs in those four sayings," Tony Stout said.

Martin Lonza said, "We're hopeful that the presentation of the 4-Way Test will have a positive influence on the residents of Wasco and those who visit. The 4-Way Test is emblematic of the values of Rotary."
