Longino (Kino) Gonzales, age 92, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by loved ones. He was married to the love of his life, Margie on Sept. 20, 1958. They had five children, Longino Gonzales Jr. married to Sandra, Christina Smart married to Wesley, Pedro Gonzales, Andrea Hernandez married to Chon and Marina Dunn.
He was preceded in death by his son, Longino Gonzales Jr., and his great-granddaughter, Hope Gonzales. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, with one on the way.
Kino was employed by the Shafter Post Office for 36 years and had many co-workers as friends, and also met many loyal customers along his route. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music and dancing in his earlier years, but later his life was filled with sporting events for his children, grandchildren and even his great-grandchildren. He even watched them on his IPad when he got to the point where he couldn't travel. He loved his family and was a great supporter until his death.
He had a large personality and loved to laugh; sarcasm was his specialty. He especially loved teasing his siblings and they would give it back! Even his grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew his sarcasm and would say, "Tata!" He will definitely be missed by all.
Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 5-8 p.m., at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy. Burial will be Thursday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. at Wasco Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be at Valley Bible Church Hall in Shafter, 350 Pine St., Thursday, Feb 22, from 4-8 pm.
