Elks set Valentine's Dinner for Feb. 10

The Wasco Elks Lodge is preparing for its annual Valentine's Day dinner, promising good food, great company and a chance to give back to the Wasco community.

The highlight of the evening is the steak dinner, a 18-ounce ribeye accompanied by a baked potato, salad, beans and dessert – all for $30. The event is scheduled for Feb. 10 at 6 p.m.

A portion of the proceeds will go toward generating grants that the Wasco Elks Lodge will distribute among various community groups, focusing on supporting youth and veterans.

Sergio Garza, the lodge's exalted ruler, is spearheading the event and encourages everyone to participate. "Come and have a fun time. It's a nice way to celebrate the holiday with your loved ones and family."

In addition, he believes the Valentine's Day dinner serves as a way to showcase the club's values. "We hope to share with those that attend how much we care about Wasco and making it a better place for us all. Our mission is to make a difference; we work hard to do that."

The event is also an opportunity to recruit new members and share information about upcoming activities. "We have future events that are coming up that we will share details about, including our second annual sporting clay shooting event to be held on April 6 at 8 a.m. at the Kern County Gun Club,” Garza said. “There will be gun raffles and other prizes."

To reserve a spot, the deadline is Feb. 1. Those interested can contact Garza at 661-747-9044 or the lodge at 661-758-2235.
