"This is a symbol of the positive relationship that we share with the City of Shafter, our wonderful kids, their families and our fantastic business partners such as The Wonderful Company."
Wonderful's representative, Alondra Lewell, said, "We as a company pledge to support our communities, its residents, businesses and families. We are so proud to be a part of the legacy that is the Shafter Youth Center."
The ceremony also included some touching remarks by a few of the kids that the project is aimed to enrich.. Noe and Nick Flores spoke about the new playground. "I love the new playground and going to the Youth Center. I have fun with my friends."
Nick said, "I get my homework done there. I also like playing games and being on the playground."
Eileen Webb, another participant, said, "The center is a lot of fun. It also helps my parents because they can go to work and not worry about me. They know I will be taken care of here and will learn a lot."
