Museum preparing for a facelift

The Minter Field Air Museum is preparing for a major facelift, with a total repainting on tap for the historic buildings.

According to museum director Ronald Pierce, the museum is desperate need of a touchup. "We have been wanting to repaint the museum for years, but we finally are in a position to get it done."

The reason for their good fortune is a generous donation from the Johnson Family Fund, which presented the museum with a check for $40,000 for the project.

"We still can't believe it. It has been such a blessing," said Pierce.

Steve Holloway Painting is prepping the museum's buildings and structures for a complete repainting, which will be underway in the very near future.

Pierce said that the museum will be having an event after the completion of the project, letting everyone to check out the "brand new" museum.

This museum houses thousands of relics, artifacts, vehicles and planes from the military history of the United States. Every conflict from World War I to the Iraq conflicts are represented in the many exhibits and displays at the museum. The museum is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and can be booked for tours as well.
