In life, we all face times of abandonment and loneliness. Sometimes it may feel like the whole world is against you. In 2nd Timothy 4:17, Paul said, “The Lord stood with me, and he strengthened me.”Paul had been done much evil by a man known as Alexander the coppersmith. Alexander had made a shipwreck of his faith and became an enemy of the Gospel. It seems like Alexander intimidated many of Paul’s hearers as he tried to disrupt the ministry of Paul.
The spirit of this world will never embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ, and it will fight and oppose the gospel just as Alexander opposed Paul, but Paul said, “The Lord stood with me, and he strengthened me."Paul said the Lord will deal with Alexander in his own way. What a powerful statement Paul made: “The Lord stood with me, and he strengthened me.”
The Lord stood with Moses. From infancy to the day he died, the Lord stood with him. Through much opposition, the Lord stood with him. Against Pharaoh, the Lord stood with him. In the wilderness, the Lord stood with him. Even when family (Aaron and Miriam) came against him, the Lord stood with him. Hebrews 13:5 says, “I will never leave you or forsake you." Keep your faith in God. The Lord will stand with you and he will strengthen.
The Lord stood with Elijah. In 1st Kings 17:1 the Lord stood with Elijah as he gave a message of judgment to wicked King Ahab. In this day and hour, you will not always be popular for telling the truth of God’s Word, but the Lord will stand with you, and he will strengthen you.
In a time when food was scarce, the Lord stood with Elijah and miraculously fed him. When Elijah’s faith was tried, the Lord stood with him. The Lord stands with us in this day and age. These are perilous and dangerous times that we live in, but the Lord will stand with us and strengthen us. Hold on to the nail-scarred hand of Jesus. He will never leave you or forsake you. He will stand with you.
