Strata Credit Union getting set to launch

Strata Credit Union will open its doors in October/November of this year. It will be a resource to residents by providing a local option to traditional banks.

Founded in 1949, Strata Credit Union is a federally insured, not-for-profit financial cooperative that serves Bakersfield and Kern County. The bank offers a wide range of financial products and services, including checking and savings accounts, loans, credit cards and investment products.

"Strata Credit Union is extremely excited to open in Wasco because we see a great opportunity to serve the community. Wasco is a growing city with a strong economy, and Strata Credit Union believes that our products and services will be a valuable asset to the community," Marketing Officer Eric Duhart said.

The bank will serve an important role in the community.

"Strata Credit Union is committed to making a positive impact on the Wasco community by providing financial services, supporting community involvement, stimulating economic development and providing education programs."

Strata differs from traditional banks because it is owned by its members, not by shareholders.

"This means that the profits of Strata Credit Union do not go to shareholders, but instead go back to the members in the form of lower rates, higher dividends and better services."

He added that Strata Credit Union typically has lower fees than a bigger bank. This is because the credit union is not trying to make a profit.

The facility is a full-service branch located at 2830 Highway 46.

"It's a state-of-the-art facility that features a variety of amenities, including drive-thru ATM, walk-up ATM, personal bankers and tellers who are available to help you with your financial needs."

"Our online banking is secure, safe, easy to use and free. You can manage your account, transfer funds, and send deposit checks remotely and more with just a few clicks.

"If you live, work, worship or attend school in Kern County, you can become a member of Strata Credit Union. To open an account, you need a valid ID (with current address) or ITIN letter and the minimum deposit ($5 for share savings and $25 for free checking)."
