Serving the community since 1970
Sept. 2, 1936 – June 1, 2023
Loreta Hokit, 86, of Wasco, was born in Oklahoma on Sept. 2, 1936, to James and Ada Hutson. Surrounded by her loved ones, Loreta passed away peacefully in her Wasco home on June 1, 2023.
During her childhood, Loreta and her family moved to Wasco, where she met the love of her life, Joe Hokit, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage.
Loreta's work spanned from potato sheds to serving as a café hostess with her two sons. Her contagious love, spirit, humor and famous taco pie touched all that new her. Loreta had a love for reading and writing, and taught us the power of love over fear.
Loreta is survived by her two sons, Billy Hokit and Mark Hokit; three grandsons, Seth Hokit and wife Christina, Nathaniel Hokit, and Mark Hokit II and partner Kathleen and stepson Faris; three great grandsons, Isaiah, Josh and Scott; her sister Joyce Madron; a special niece, Kathy Harrington; and many more nieces, nephews and family friends that were very special to Loreta's heart.
Services were held on June 8.
