Young ones charged the field on the hunt for Easter eggs.

The Wasco Recreation and Parks District held its first annual "Spring it on Easter Egg Hunt," a morning of activities, games, face painting, music, information booths, a cake walk and a meet and greet with the Easter bunny.
Over 400 children participated. A free event, it brought the community together to celebrate spring and the upcoming Easter holiday.
"Years ago, Candy Wilson of Toys for Tigers ran the event at the park, so I wanted to bring it back," WRPD manager Chris Serna said.
The best part for her was seeing the children's faces light up when they were ready for the egg hunt, she said. "Having the Easter bunny here for them was fun and exciting."
All of the kids walked away with goodie bags.
"Every child that comes walks away with treats. That is what WRPD is all about – bringing joy to the community."
WRPD secretary Valerie Reynolds said, "It was wonderful to see all of them having a good time and enjoying the spring weather. For it being our first one, it was very successful. We plan on doing it again next year and expect it to be even bigger."
Those that attended left happy that they came.
Jessica Alanis brought her two children to let them join in on the Easter egg hunt.
"I think events like this are great because they allow us as parents to spend time celebrating a special holiday with our kids."
Maira Guzman said, "It was very kid-friendly, and lots of activities for them."
The weather was warm and sunny.
"It was nice to be out in the sun and bring the kids out," Elvira Platas said.
Carmina Rodriguez said the event was well organized.
"I want to thank the WRPD for putting this on. They kept the kids busy. There was no waiting time. They went from one activity to the next."
Briana Ortiz said her kids had a blast and that the egg hunt was awesome.
Miss Wasco Rose Queen Ensley Mehlberg attended the event.
"I wanted to be here to support the community. It's amazing to see how involved they are. It also lets me connect with the kids."
Ariah Hasha said her favorite part was that her son could play with other kids from the community, running around and smiling.
It was a collaborative effort, with many partners and over 20 volunteers, including Toys for Tigers, Westside Family Fellowship Church, Wasco Elks Ladies, Wasco Woman's Club, Wasco Elks Lodge #2419, Orange Heart Foundation, LifeHouse Church, the City of Wasco, Girl Scouts troop #2447, Wasco FFA and the Wasco Senior Center.
"This doesn't happen with just one person. It would not have been possible without the partnerships and support of the volunteers," Serna said.
