The Sequoia Bears students had a very busy week before Christmas break, taking part in a number of fun activities, as well as teaming up to send the Shafter Generals off in style on their way to Orland for the State Championship game.
Sequoia students worked hard making signs and posters wishing the Generals good luck as they took off for their long trip up north. The students lined the bus driveway, cheering and showing their Shafter pride with signs of encouragement. "This was a lot of fun. I can't wait until I might get a chance to play football for the Generals," said Edgar Lopez.
Sequoia staff held a drive-thru giveaway for those Bear families who wanted free covid home testing kits to take home over the Christmas break. "It was really nice of them to do this, especially with all of the students planning to spend the holidays with large groups of family and friends. This was a really smart idea," said Alicia Munoz.
If you attended the Shafter Christmas Parade, then you saw the brightly lit float made by the students and staff of Sequoia, complete with Christmas lights, santa hats and, of course, their Sequoia Bear mascot, who walked with the students as they made their way around Mannel Park.
The entire week before the break also saw the students dressing up to a different theme each day, with Monday starting the week off with Ugly Sweater Day. Friday ended the week, with students wearing their favorite Christmas pajamas.
