The Shafter High Generals christened their new stadium on Friday night with a 25-6 victory over the Orosi Cardinal. They will be celebrating an official Grand Opening of the stadium on Homecoming night, Sept. 23, with a variety of activities on the menu.
For the price of admission to the game against the Taft Wildcats, attendees will be treated to a video produced by Coach Jerald Pierucci and students in his multimedia class. The video will be played just before the beginning of the game. At halftime of the game, there will be the crowning of the Homecoming Queen and King, a performance by the Shafter High Marching Band and homecoming floats.
There will be a variety of food for sale, as well as old yearbooks and Shafter High memorabilia sold. All of the proceeds will go to student clubs and sports teams.
The stadium has a state of the art nine-lane track, renovated concessions, bleachers, press box, and the best video scoreboard in the county.
This scoreboard has instant replay capabilities, amazing graphics, digital messaging and enhanced scoreboard panels.
For this Friday’s contest against Chavez High School, LED lights connected to the stadium lights will flash on cue.
