NEW: Wasco Rose Parade – Saturday, Sept. 10, starting at 10 a.m. at 7th and D streets along Poplar Avenue, ending at Barker park. Wasco Rose Festival followe at 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Barker Park.
NEW: Construction – East Euclid Avenue between James and Nickel streets beginning Aug. 22; to last 6-7 weeks. City suggests avoiding the area.
Learning Center classes – The Shafter Library & Learning Center classes start Aug. 29; registration is now open. Classes will be offered as part of after-school program Monday-Friday 4:05-7: p.m. Classes include:
For grades 1-8: Art Through All Mediums, Art Around the World, Future Scientists, Cooking, Baking, Spanish, Keyboarding/Computer Programming, Crafts, Literacy Lab, Lego Robotics, iMath games/tutoring.
Pre-K programs: Pre-K (3-5 years) English, Pre-K (3-5 yrs) Spanish; PreK (1-3 years) Bilingual for Toddlers.
Family classes include Family Bilingual Night and Family Art night.

Richland School Board – Meetings are held the second Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at Golden Oak Cafeteria, 195 S. Wall St.
Shafter City Council – Meetings are held at City Hall on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.
TUESDAY
Wasco Woman’s Club – Meetings are at the Clubhouse, 1601 7th St., on the second Tuesday of the month. There is a $15fee for the lunch meetings.
Senior Lunch Program – Every first and third Tuesday of the month: Griffith Avenue Baptist Church, 408 Griffith St. Sack lunches for seniors will be given out at 11 a.m. Sponsored by Golden Gleaners.

Shafter Rotary – Meeting at 7 a.m. at the Shafter Veterans Hall.
Shafter Kiwanis – Meeting Wednesdays at 12 p.m. at the Shafter Veterans Hall.
THURSDAY
Wasco High School Board – Meetings the second Thursday of the month at 1900 7th St. in Room 202, or alternatively in Library Room 1101. The agenda is on the WHS website.
Wasco Recreation and Park Board – Meetings are on the third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hall at Barker Park.
Food distribution – Shafter Recreation and the Gleaners have food distribution every first and third Thursday of each month at the W.C. Walker Senior Center, 505 Sunset Ave.
FRIDAY
Food giveaway — The Impact Program is a weekly food giveaway provided to anyone in need, Fridays beginning at 7 a.m. first come, first serve. Griffith Avenue Baptist Church, 408 Griffith St., Wasco.
SATURDAY
Depot Museum – The Shafter Depot Museum is open Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The museum is at 150 Central Valley Highway.
