Ascencion "Guero" Caudillo

1967 – 2022

Ascencion "Guero" Caudillo, a 65-year-old lifetime resident of Shafter, passed away on Aug. 4, 2022. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his children and the love of his life, his wife, Eliza.

Guero was born to his beloved mother, Frances Gutierrez. There is a saying – "A mother is her son's first true love." Frances most definitely was his first love. His greatest love, though, was his wife, Eliza. They were blessed to have 33 wonderful years together.

He was a man with a tremendously loving heart. He adored his children, grandchildren, brother and sisters. He loved his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins greatly. He did not believe in letting even one opportunity for a hug and a kiss go by.

Guero worked for Kern Valley State Prison. He was proud to call those officers "brothers." These officers watched each other's backs, and they had his back until his last watch.

Guero's greatest passion besides his family was his love of the ocean, especially Pismo Beach. He and Lisa spent many long weekends in Pismo in their RV. He loved walking the beach and barbequing. He loved feeding his people, using his Traeger to barbecue chicken, hot links, hamburger, tri-tips, New York steak and pizza – he did it all on his Traeger. He also had a love for music, especially The Commodores, Stylistics and Lionel Richie.

Guero is survived by his wife Lisa; their four beautiful sons, Edward (Lizette), Richard (Vanessa), Sean (Rocio) and Isaac (Jade). He leaves behind 11 grandchildren; brother Mario (Annie); sisters Monica (Phillip), Terry (Frank), Deanna (David), Eleanor (Junior), and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews he loved each and every one of them in a unique and special way.

A viewing will be held at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy., Shafter, on Thursday, Aug. 11, from 4 to 8 p.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Therese's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Friday, with burial to follow at Shafter Memorial Park.
