The Wasco Tigers beat the Shafter Generals 8-1 in an explosive match Tuesday afternoon. An outcome which was not unexpected if you take a look at the Tiger's previous matches this season. With an overall record of 13-6, and an interleague record of 4-2, the odds
were on Wasco's side. The Generals, on the other hand, are 8-9 overall and are completely void of a win so far in league play at 0 - 5.
The varsity team has already beaten out some of the strongest teams the region has tooffer. So far this year, they've taken down Morro Bay, Corcoran, Exeter, Independence, Cesar Chavez, Golden Valley, North, McFarland, Arvin and Lindsay. They have only lost to Taft,Central Valley Christian, Kennedy, Garces, and Mission Oak so far.
"These boys came out and they played hard today," said Wasco head coach Jeffery Wedell, who is in his 10th year of heading the Wasco High
baseball program. "...We got an unbelievable outing from Colin..." Colin being Colin Dickson. Colin had the crowd roaring on multiple different occasions, definitely coming out as a favorite in the eyes of spectators.
'[I].can't say enough about the effort we put out facing a guy like Luke [Rodriguez] that throws ninety-plus..." Luke is a standout player from Shafter, another crowd favorite and a very proficient player.
Currently, Luke has a fielding percentage of .943, a batting average of .483, and an on-base percentage of .575. Even compared to his fellow teammates, Luke's stats are extraordinary, "We were patient, we made him pitch and we got the dub," Coach Dickson said.
The Tigers face off against McFarland Thursday, April 21. It will be the second time this year the Tigers have gone against McFarland Thursday,
