Serving the community since 1970
If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the comfort of a warm environment while you get your hair done, 1 Stop Barbershop and Salon provides just that.
"The best part about our shop is getting to know our clients. They become our friends and feel at ease sharing their lives with us. It builds a bond and makes us more than just a regular business. You can say we care for more than just hair," owner Jorge Espinoza said.
As a one-stop-shop for everyone, they cut hair for both men and women.
"We serve all ages and have given many children their first haircut. To help them feel safe and in good hands, we have lollipops and play YouTube for them," Espinoza said.
In addition to haircuts, they do color, perms, fades, eyebrow waxing, black facial masks, and gentlemen's beards and head shave.
"Something unique to other local shops is that we use steamed towels to provide a smoother, polished and less irritable shave. It opens up pores and is healthier for the skin," he said.
The business is family-owned with his brother, Julio as a barber, and his mother, Victoria, as a cosmetologist.
"In total, our team is made up of eight barbers and one beautician. Together we have almost 60 years of experience," Jorge Espinoza said. "We are bilingual to serve Wasco's large Latino population and have handicap accommodations."
Jorge Espinoza has been a licensed professional barber since 2016.
"Before that, I cut hair as a sophomore in high school. After class, I would walk to my mother's salon on 7th Street and cut hair for my friends for $2. That is how I built the momentum to embark on my career," he said.
Jorge Espinoza stressed the importance of cleanliness in the shop.
"Our shop is spotless with stations wiped, and floors mopped regularly. You can smell the cleanliness, which is a plus for our clients who trust us to give them the best service possible. We take our jobs seriously so we can leave our customers happy and excited to return," he said. "Our tools between every client are well cared for, and we comply closely with state regulations going above and beyond what is expected. We try to be 100% when disinfecting our clippers, scissors, brushes, chairs, lobby and bathroom."
Jorge Espinoza said 1 Stop will be around for a long time.
"I want the community to know we are here to stay and are going to be here for a long time. As Wasco grows, we want to grow with the city. We live our dreams and hope to motivate the community to chase theirs just as we are chasing ours," he said.
The shop will celebrate its first anniversary on April 15, with an event for customers to show their appreciation. A special day is planned with hot dogs, hamburgers, refreshments, free haircuts, t-shirts and other items. There will also be discounts on their products, including gels, beard oils, hair pomades, shampoos and conditioners.
Appointments and walk-ins throughout the day are welcome.
