This upcoming spring season has an exciting lineup of sports in store for fans of high school athletics. Spectators can expect boys tennis, softball, baseball, track, swim and golf this upcoming spring.
Varsity softball played their first scrimmage matches against Corcoran on Feb. 3, and Highland on Feb. 8. Interleague play begins March 22 against McFarland on home turf. Play offs take place on May 18 through May 28. Sonia Wedel is the head coach of the softball team.
Wasco High’s swim team goes up against Shafter and Taft in a non-league meet on Feb. 17 with their first interleague meet on March 4 going up against Centennial High from Bakersfield. League championships will be held on April 30. Section championship will be held on May 6 through 7, and state championship will be on May 13 and 14. The swim team's head coach is Chris Gebhardt.
On Feb. 1, Wasco High’s baseball team went up against Bakersfield’s East High in a scrimmage match. Varsity will play their first interleague game on Feb. 19. Play offs take place on May 17, May 19, May 24, May 27-28. Jeff Wedel is head coach.
Track will have their first meet on Feb. 25 with the SSL Championship being held on May 3, Division Championship on May 13, and Section Championship on May 21. Chad Martinez is the head coach for track.
Boy’s tennis play their first interleague game against McFarland on Feb. 22. SSL Championships are on April 19-20. The head coach for boy’s tennis is Josh Bocker.
Boys golf’s first game will be against Cesar Chavez on Thursday, Feb. 17 and SSL Championships are being held April 26 on the Buena Vista golf course in Taft. Golf is being coached by Edward Moreno, who also coaches girl’s golf.
