Max Edward "Ed" Coleman passed away on Aug. 11, 2021, surrounded by loved ones following a valiant battle with cancer.
Ed was born June 30, 1948, to Max and Alice (Dipple) Coleman. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Crowe, of Redlands, on Sept. 14, 1968. They moved to Wasco, where they made their home and raised their family.
Ed spent most of his life farming in Wasco for Coleman Farms and production of Kiwi Kid; later in life he wore many hats as a handyman. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ.
Ed's love of fishing came at a young age and continued throughout his life. He was a dedicated member of Anglers Anonymous Central Coast, a nonprofit organization that takes veterans and active duty service persons on day fishing trips,
"Every day is wonderful out on the water somewhere, especially if the fish are biting," he was known to say.
He was preceded in death by his father, Max Coleman; mother, Alice Rocke; siblings Caren White, Cheryl Coleman and Richard Mann; his wife of 31 years, Patricia Coleman; and their son, Timothy Coleman.
Ed is survived by daughter Marabeth Middleton and husband Jeff; their children, Aubree, Jeffrey and Timothy Middleton; daughter Robin Coleman and her daughter Keely Acebedo; daughter Diana Coleman; sisters Sharon Mann and Pauline Salinas; many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews; numerous other family members and friends; and long-time devoted companion Lavonda Declippel.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ, 850 Minter Ave. in Shafter. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to his beloved Anglers Anonymous Central Coast.
