El Duran's Taco Shop opens off Highway 43

The owner of Rocy's Mexican Food has opened a new venture in the city called El Duran's Taco Shop.

Antonio Duran and his family have been in business in Shafter for a few years. Duran said that he loved the location of Highway 43 right after Apple Market, thinking that it would be a perfect spot for a business.

Duran made this dream a reality as he opened the doors to El Duran's Taco Shop this past Thursday.

Duran said the new restaurant offers everything that Rocy's offers, specializing in tacos. They also serve the Mexican mainstays including fajitas, burritos, and Menudo on Saturdays and Sundays.

Helping Duran with his new venture is his daughters Valerie Duran and Maria Duran. Both of them have years of experience working at Rocy's as well.

"I live over on this side of town, which is perfect for me at this place. I already love Rocy's, and now I can go here to Duran's which is great," said Marco Matajia, who was getting some tacos for dinner. "I like having this place a lot closer to my house, and the food is just great."

Duran said that Shafter has been very supportive to him and his family and he thinks that this new business will do very well.

"I love Shafter and the people who live here," said Duran.

A ribbon cutting will be held in the near future.
