Serving the community since 1970
Residents can learn about funding available to improve air quality during a virtual town hall meeting on April 30.
The meeting will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. and will discuss funding for residents and businesses.
With the passage of AB 617, a steering committee was formed in the city that created a plan of how to improve the air quality in Shafter. The result has been a variety of programs that will benefit the community as well as helping reduce emissions.
The meeting will inform the public about the programs and future funding opportunities for available clean air equipment.
At 4 p.m., presenters will discuss how to get money for Valley businesses. At 4:45, p.m., the topic will be air quality tools and how to protect yourself and at 5 p.m., it will be how to get money for community residents.
Attendees will also be eligible to win prizes during the meeting.
There are two ways to attend. Participants can join the Zoom meeting by entering Meeting ID: 998 7630 2140, and then entering a passcode of 617.
They can also watch the meeting on the live feed on the Valley Air District Facebook live page.
There will be Spanish interpretation services available.
