WHS freshmen can drive through campus April 19

Monday, April 19 is the official Freshman Launch event at Wasco High School.

Freshman Launch will look a bit different than in the past. This will be a drive-thru event where students will drive through campus and be greeted by teachers while staying in their cars.

Students will be able to tour the campus, sign up for sports and other activities digitally at the event using links to online signup sheets, which will be provided the evening of the launch. A link will be provided for a virtual tour of the campus to view on a mobile device as they drive through campus.

As students exit the event, they will be given a Tiger Swag Bag with registration information and other Tiger pride goodies.

Registration will take place digitally this year as it did last year. Information will be included in their Tiger Swag Bag packet.

The staff is anticipating at least 450 freshmen.

Students can drive thru on campus based on the letters of the alphabet as follows: Freshman Launch will be Monday, April 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

• A-H from 5:30 to 6:10 p.m.

• I-Q from 6:10 to 6:50 p.m.

• R-Z from 6:50 to 7:30 p.m.

“We are very excited to bring students back to school for in-person instruction if they elect to do so on April 20,” said Social Science and Health Instructor Kourtney Johnson. “We are ecstatic to have students continue learning on the WHS campus in a safe and socially distanced environment to finish out this school year.”

Johnson said it’s too early to know what the exact plans are for next year, but states that everyone greatly appreciated the flexibility and support from students and families this school year.
