The number of new positive cases of the covid-19 virus continues to rise quickly in one week in Wasco.
On Feb. 2, there were 4,724 cases and on Feb. 9, there is an increase of 325 new cases up to 5,049.
The number of recovered is 1,444 up from 1,427 for the week of Feb. 2., which means recoveries have increased by 17 people.
The number of presumed recovered for the week of Feb. 9 is 1,745 above last week’s recovered of 1,557, therefore 188 are presumed recovered from last week.
Shafter’s numbers are more stable than Wasco’s with 3,268 cases the week of Feb. 9 compared to 3,142 cases the week of Feb. 2, an increase of 126 new cases in one week.
The number of recovered cases in Shafter for the week of Feb. 9 was 1,206 compared to 1,193 from the week of Feb. 2. There were 13 new recoveries in a week’s time. The number of presumed recovered in Shafter for the week of Feb. 9 was 1,439 compared to Feb. 2 numbers of 1,283.
Restaurants are still closed to indoor dining.. Hair salons and barbershops are open as are stores in both cities.
Shafter opened City Hall at the beginning of the week on Feb. 8 while Wasco’s City Hall remains closed.
Meetings are being conducted by Zoom in order to prevent large gatherings.
