I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1
How does a person live a sacrificial life?
It is rather simple to live a minimum life. We give the minimum to God and to our families. When you analyze your spiritual life you might at admit that you are only surviving spiritually.
You can look at your position as a spouse or parent and admit that you are doing the absolute minimum for your loved ones — no sacrifice. Well, living a minimum life will always be a lid, a restriction, on how much you can grow.
Paul tells the Christian Romans to present your bodies as a living sacrifice. The Message Bible translation put it this way, “Take your everyday, ordinary life — your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life — and place it before God as an offering.”
As a local pastor I ask myself, "Am I living a sacrificial life for God, my family, my church, and my neighborhood?"
I have to admit that I can grow in all these areas, I have not always lived a sacrificial life, but it is my desire to honor God by doing so.
It is not what you say, but what you do. It is not what you believe, but how you behave. Go above and beyond for God. Go above and beyond for your spouse and children!
Live a sacrificial life for God. Live a sacrificial life for your loved ones, without expecting any gain or benefit. As we abandon our lives for God, we discover the great and unmeasurable things that God has for those that present themselves as living sacrifices.
