Residents utilize free virus testing

The Latino Coalition sponsored free Covid-19 testing at Fiesta Supermarket on Sunday, Nov. 22.

"There have been a lot more people getting tested already today than last week at the apartment building," City Manager Daniel Ortiz-Hernandez said. "It's been a great turnout."

Ortiz-Hernandez was being tested for the third time because someone could test negative one day and retest positive the next day.

City staff was ready with a handful of masks in both adult and children sizes to hand out to anyone who requested one.

Former council member Alex Garcia reminisced about his time in the hospital last Thanksgiving with difficulty breathing issues and after being admitted to the hospital, he was diagnosed with pneumonia.

"I think I took the test too late to show any remainder of the virus in my system," he said.

Garcia remembered receiving visitors at the hospital and no one was wearing a mask for protection. "This was before we all knew about the virus," he said.

Adventist Health staff was split up into three separate stations with nurses performing the swab test.
