1943 -- 2020
Barbara Ann Terry was born Aug. 29, 1943, to William E. and Eula Wooten in Olney, Texas. She lived with her family for a time in Arizona, then moved to McFarland, where she attended the local schools and graduated from McFarland High School in 1961.
She met Allen Terry, and they wed on May 16, 1964, and made Wasco their home, where they raised their three daughters.
Barbara started working for the Wasco Elementary School District in 1976 as a teacher aide,. She was also the "lunch lady," working in the cafeteria, and then became the librarian.
Aside from being a wife and mother, this was the job she loved the most. She will always be remembered for the books she read to kids and how she made sure to decorate the library in each book theme. Barbara loved to read, and she wanted to open up the world of books to the kids at school, and she did this like no one else could. Even after she retired from the school district, she was always recognized by former students as their favorite librarian.
Barbara and Allen attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Wasco for many years; she was a board member of the church. She loved going to church and singing hymns.
Barbara and Allen are lifetime members of the OFCC Car Club, where Barbara served as treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the Buttonwillow Seniors Group, where she also served as treasurer.
Barbara was well loved by everyone she met; she always had a kind smile and an infectious laugh. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed trips with her friends, who she loved dearly. Once you were her friend you were forever her family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, William E. Wooten; her mother, Eula Wooten; her granddaughter, Cassandra Marie Terry-Luna; and numerous loving aunts and uncles.
