Might not play in Wasco this year, coach says
The Pecos League has delayed its season until July 1, according to Wasco Reserve manager Bill Moore. That means the Reserve professional baseball team won't be returning to the Wasco Recreational Ballpark in Wasco at least until then -- and maybe not at all this season.
The league will start the season with four teams playing in Houston on July 1, but Wasco was not one of those invited to attend. All teams in the league will then play the rest of a 36-game season in one or two ballparks on the West Coast, yet to be determined.
Possible locations range from Bakersfield to Inyokern and Monterey.
Moore said the Reserve team would be "{highly competitive" this year, with an early roster of 32 that was to be cut down in the spring training that was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"I'd play all 72 games in Wasco if we could," Moore said. "The fans here are terrific."
