Serving the community since 1970
Time is passing us by so quickly, and there are times in which I wish it can slow down a little. 2020 means 2020 vision to be able to see what really matters this year.
At Canyon Hills Wasco, we spent four weeks focusing on four things that should really matter to you this year- one of them is "community."
The human soul desires community; it's the way that God created us. From the beginning God said, "Let us [plural] make man in our image and in our likeness" (Gen 1:26). There was community in God from the very beginning. We are wired to be in community. Today, you might be seeking to be a part of something but you do not know how to interpret that inner desire into real life.
I hope that this quick read clarifies that for you. The reality is that there are various types of communities -- online forums, sports, fitness and cooking, etc. -- but true community will get into your personal space, not to shame you but to sharpen you.
You need to be part of an eternal and Godly community, one that will celebrate and walk with you through difficult and challenging times.
Your online community will not be at your funeral. Truthfully, the devil might not scare you while you are sleeping, but he will isolate you. In isolation, when you are all alone and you feel the emptiness and loneliness in your life, you will slowly begin to decay spiritually, emotionally and even physically.
If you are reading this today and you are feeling alone and isolated, I pray that this moves you from isolation to a Godly community.
Run towards community! Don't live life alone. This is the beauty of Acts 2 and the early church- perfect community. In 2020, being part of community really matters. I encourage you to plug yourself into a healthy local church and become part of an eternal family.
"Acts and day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts praising God and having favor with all the people, the people and the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved."
--Acts 2:45-47
