Orange Heart tells of a year of activity

The Orange Heart Foundation has a full schedule of community events coming this year, and shared some of the details with the Wasco Coalition last week.

Orquidea Ocampo and Ruvi Ocampo were the presenters at the meeting, held at the Old Courthouse March 4. They opened with a slide presentation with local community leaders explaining how the Orange Heart Foundation has been an asset to the community by opening up new ideas for community activities and fundraisers to benefit the community of Wasco.

The Orange Heart Foundation's mission is to continue the traditions in Wasco.

Their sponsors include Portwood Farms, Gebhardt Farm Management, My Auto Works, Wasco State Prison, District 4 Supervisor David Couch, Wasco Rotary. Wasco Recreation and Parks District, American Refuse and Aera Energy.

The group begins fundraising right after the annual Fireworks show on July 3.

The show costs about $15,000 to put on. Expenses include security, entertainment, volunteer lunches, sponsor banners, advertisement, event health permits, posters and other printed materials.

In addition, events for 2020 were also announced, including the Father/Daughter Dance on Wednesday, April 1, from 6-8:30 p.m.; Taco Fiesta Friday on Friday, June 5, at 5 p.m. (location T to be announced); the Lavender Festival on Saturday, June 13, at 10 a.m. (location TBA) the Wasco Fireworks Show on Wednesday, July 3, from 5 to 10 p.m.; etiquette classes in August (date, time and location TBA); the Wine and Roses event on Friday, Sept. 11, from 7 to 9 p.m.; and the Music Festival on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 4 to 10 p.m.

Ocampo also provided a list of items that need to be donated for the Father/Daughter Dance, such as cookies, desserts, water bottles/juice boxes, plates and napkins, and decorations to be set up the day of. Watch #Girldad for more information.

In addition, she described the different sponsor categories and what is received for that sponsorship.

--Freedom Sponsors donate $1,000-$2,500 and will receive a thank-you banner with company logo on the day of the event. A logo will be placed on social media accounts and recognition by event speakers and recognition on the Orange Heart Foundation social media accounts as well as booth space with information and giveaways at the events.

--Liberty Sponsors donate $500-$999 and will receive logo placement on banner and social media accounts and recognition by event speakers and recognition on social media accounts.

--Independent Sponsors donate $250-499 and receive recognition by event speaker and on our social media accounts and logo placement on banner.

--Stars and Stripes sponsors donate $100-249 and receive recognition by event speaker and on our social media accounts.
