Ankle bracelet didn't stop suspect

A Buttonwillow man wearing a Kern County Probation Department ankle bracelet was arrested for stealing a tractor recently.

Detectives of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crime Investigation Unit responded to the 30000 block of San Diego Street in Shafter. They located a stolen John Deere Gator in the area, and developed probable cause that 38-year-old Daniel Holder from Buttonwillow stole the tractor while wearing the ankle monitor.

Two weeks ago, Rural Crimes Investigation detectives served a search warrant in the 1600 block of Buttonwillow Drive and discovered the stolen tractor on the property. Three days later, Holder was located and arrested for two counts of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle with priors.

The Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with additional information to call 661-861-3110 or the Secret Witness Line at 661-322-4040.
