The Houchin Community Blood Bank bus was once again back in Wasco. It was a great turnout, with many Wasco residents donating. Those that came understood they were helping to save lives. The City of Wasco and Wasco Code Compliance held their annual Bike Rodeo at Barker Park for their 10th time on Saturday. Hall Ambulance has an open recruitment period going for their next EMT academy, which begins on Sept. 20. The Academy prepares individuals in under 10 weeks to start working in the Hall Ambulance 9-1-1 system as an emergency medical technician. A new park at Gossamer Grove pays homage to Shafter's farming roots. Farm Park was opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last month, with residents getting to check out the new facilities, including a ball court, a dog park and a landscape that resembles a farm. Jellybean came into the Wasco Animal Shelter as a stray. She is approximately 2 years old, and is female chihuahua mix. She is great with staff and other dogs. She has been tested with small and large breeds. It is unknown if Jellybean is house/crate trained at the time.
