A Rotary member and polio survivor is on a crusade to help all Rotarians stamp out the polio virus for good around the world. Agustin R. Mercado entered this life on June 26, 1931, to parents Leopoldo Mercado Gonzalez and Josefina Reynoso Casillas. He was a hard worker and provider for his family. He was proud of his children and all their accomplishments. Agustin's health started to decline slowly after the love of his life, Felipa, passed in 2013. On Jan. 18, Electronic Monitoring Program deputies learned one of their inmates, 19-year-old Aaron Garcia of Wasco, removed his electronic monitoring device. Garcia was serving a criminal sentence in “virtual custody” for vehicle theft and possessing a stolen vehicle. The Kern County Sheriff’s deputies obtained a felony warrant for Garcia’s arrest.
